What Is Around the Airport
None of the services in this ranking lists an active exchange counter inside Phuket airport. Money Shop Phuket runs seven offices on the island and the Nai Yang one sits closest to the terminals. Value Plus operates 11 licensed counters in Phuket — Patong, Central Festival, Central Floresta, Laguna, Choeng Thale and Chalong — but shows no active point in the airport itself.
As a rule, exchange points inside airport terminals anywhere in Thailand quote worse rates than counters in town, which is why a common plan is to change a small amount on arrival and the main sum later.
How to Get Baht on Arrival
If you arrived with US dollars or euros in cash, a licensed counter is the simplest route; bring your passport. If your money is on a Russian card, a Mir card will not work, and a UnionPay card costs 250 THB per withdrawal at a Krungsri machine for UnionPay and Visa, or 350 THB for Mastercard, plus your bank's own fee.
If your money is in roubles or USDT, an exchange service is the straightforward answer. 2Change pays out cash at a QR-enabled ATM from 8,000 THB, from 5 minutes after payment is confirmed, with no Thai card or account. Senate Exchange, ExFM, ARBI Exchange and Money Shop Phuket also offer cardless withdrawals.
A Practical Arrival Plan
Install an eSIM before the flight so you have internet the moment you land. Agree the amount for the first few days with a manager while you are still at the airport, collect it at a machine in the terminal area or near the hotel, and exchange the larger sum later in one go, since most services give a worse rate on small amounts.
Phuket airport sits in the north of the island and Patong, Kata and Karon are an hour or more away by road. Taxis and transfers are usually paid in cash, so having baht before you leave the terminal saves negotiating about card payment on the way.
What Not to Plan For
Do not count on changing leftover baht back into roubles before departure: 2Change does not offer reverse exchange in Thailand, so plan the amount against what you will spend.
Do not rely on a single card either. Availability of a particular Russian card abroad can change at short notice, which is why a service that works from a phone is worth setting up before you need it.
