Who Accepts Roubles
In Phuket, roubles are exchanged for baht by 2Change, Senate Exchange, ExFM, ARBI Exchange and Money Shop Phuket. Two transfer services move roubles from Russia instead: Oplatym and Avosend. The licensed counters of Value Plus do not take roubles at all, and a Mir card cannot be used to pay or withdraw in Thailand.
Most services accept a transfer rather than notes. Senate Exchange lists Mir and UnionPay cards and Russia's Faster Payments System; ARBI Exchange lists SBP along with Sber, T-Bank, Alfa-Bank, VTB and Mir. Rouble cash across the counter is narrower: Money Shop Phuket and ExFM accept notes.
How You Collect the Baht
Four routes exist. A cardless ATM withdrawal needs no card and no Thai account, and works in any district with a bank machine — 2Change is built entirely around it, and Senate Exchange, ARBI Exchange, ExFM and Money Shop Phuket offer it too. An office visit is possible at Senate Exchange (Kata, Bang Tao), ARBI Exchange (five offices), Money Shop Phuket (seven offices) and ExFM (Choeng Thale), all open around 10:00 to 22:00.
A courier brings the money to you, with conditions: at ARBI Exchange it is free only from 30,000 THB. A transfer to a Thai bank account is the fourth route, and it presumes an account opened in person at a branch — easier on a long-stay visa than on a tourist one.
Minimums and Thresholds
Thresholds change the amount you receive more than anything else. ARBI Exchange starts from 1,000 THB. 2Change works from 8,000 THB, the same for ATM cash and for a bank transfer. Money Shop Phuket calculates sums below 8,000 THB at a separate rate, Senate Exchange applies a higher rate below 10,000 THB, and ExFM improves its rate from 49,999 THB. Oplatym starts at 100 USD with a fee of 1.5% to 10% quoted in the chat, and Avosend pays out 100 to 30,000 THB per transfer, up to 90,000 THB a day.
Because of this, one larger exchange usually beats several small ones. Work out what you need for the whole stay and ask for the final figure in baht before sending money.
What It Costs to Skip the Services
The alternative is a UnionPay card issued in Russia before departure. Every withdrawal then carries a Thai ATM fee — 250 THB for UnionPay and Visa at Krungsri, 350 THB for Mastercard since 11 March 2026 — plus the issuer's own charge, for example 2% with a 299 RUB minimum on rouble accounts at Rosselkhozbank.
Note also that the direction is one-way at 2Change: baht are not exchanged back into roubles in Thailand, so plan the sum against what you will actually spend.
